Moving into The Horseshoe
Hello there, folks.
Welcome to my new blog. I am an author of Maltese heritage, although I moved to the UK in my early twenties. I have had homes in London, Brighton, Saltaire, Scarborough and Altea on the Costa Blanca but now I call the market town of Driffield home.
My new house is midcentury modern in the Scandinavian style. It sits in a quiet little close called The Horseshoe - hence the title of the blog. Don't be fooled by the picture, which I cribbed from estate agent's brochure. By the time I did my first viewing, it had been empty and neglected for close to three years. The previous owners hadn't done anything to it before they moved into a care home where they sadly passed away. The decor is still mid-seventies so every inch of the house needs doing up, including the garden which at the moment is a jungle of brambles and overgrown bushes.
I am an author and playwright by trade. Before Gino came into my life I used to write mostly in cafes but now I hate leaving him alone. Luckily, we now have a comfortable office with space for all my books and a room-wide window with views of the close that Gino finds fascinating.
